How Client-Side Image Compression Works

The browser loads your selected photo into an in-memory Image() object, mounts it onto an off-screen HTML5 <canvas> element, and re-samples the pixel matrix using bicubic interpolation before invoking canvas.toBlob() with custom discrete cosine transform (DCT) quality parameters. Confidential photos never leave your device.
